Social media has programed us to put our best photos and lives forward. Nobody talks about the struggles and issues we face under those wonderfully edited photos we upload. Today I want to break that picture perfect image and share some candid shots that may not be so Insta-worthy. Most of these photos were shot in harsh light, my mouth is open in half of the shots and my hair is flying all over the place. My eyes are probably closed too, but sunglasses help with that. Here’s to embracing the flaws of shooting and life in general. Nobody is perfect and life is too short to take yourself too seriously. Embrace those candid moments!

  1. Oh, your candid pics look better than my “good” ones, LOL
I suppose that having a good photographer changes everything, I take my photos myself, with a tripod and a remote, πŸ˜›

  2. Oh dear, these shots are totally Instaworthy and you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself as it’s these kinds of pictures I want to see in your feed. They’re stunning and show us the person behind the product. It also goes to show people have no idea about how much job goes into creating great content like you do!

Dear Jen, given that you look wonderful no matter what, I’m glad that you shared imperfect shots as a metaphor of accepting our imperfections in life too. I love your minimal outfit and thank you again for this life lesson. Love, Valeria

This is so inspiring! I love that you came to idea to write about this, we aren’t perfect!
Btw you look amazing in every single photo even though your mouth is open or you are on the move. Loved it!

  5. Instagram photos are always picture perfect which is why I always try to do my Stories either without makeup or keeping it real and no filter. I mean underneath all the filters, we are still the same person and I think it brings us closer to the readers and followers to show our true face and I think they def appreciate it as well. Your candids are so cute!

  6. Omg this is so true. I usually spend hours to find a good location, to catch the light, to create, choose and edit pictures. It is a hard work and we show only best part (beautiful pics) of it! Glad that you decide yo show other part too. I love these pics the same even if they are not perfect πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much Lana! I know we try to put our best lives and images forward, but the reality is, I don’t take showers sometimes and roll out of bed some days.

  7. You look so gorgeous, spontaneous, and free! Love this post and the candid photos, and what I love even more is your hair, it looks so lovely!

Wow. You still look gorgeous! I think it’s because somehow your positive personality just glows from you and you can sense how wonderful of a person you are!

    1. Thank you so much Jen! It’s so important to be yourself. No one is picture perfect all the time. Life happens because we’re human at the end of the day. Just embrace it!

Candid shots can be so fun! I love to share them sometimes too, just to show I’m hardly ever perfect. Haha. Your candid shots are so cute! And these are also some really unique shots! Love it. Your outfit is fabulous too – love your heels.

  10. You look good even in your candid shots! But I totally get the point of this post and I respect it. All you see is the good side of people and that creates insecurities in a lot of people. This blog post was needed.
