Style

How can you find your sense of style? Follow these three simple steps.

1. Find a style icon or two. Do you find yourself swooning over every outfit worn by Kate Middleton? Do you get daily Pinterest emails on Kendall Jenner’s street style? Do you find yourself recreating Taylor Swift’s outfits? These are all good signs! It’s important to have a style icon you look up to whether it’s through Pinterest, Instagram, blogs, fashion websites or the internet in general. There are plenty of style icons and mediums to choose from. Narrow down your choices to 3.

2. Brainstorm. What are a few adjectives that describe your style. Do you like color or do you stick to neutrals? Do you like trendier pieces or timeless pieces? Do you like lace and frills or prefer sleek, clean designs? Ask yourself these questions and write down things your like wearing. There is no wrong answer! You can write down all the colors you like wearing (together and separate), textures and fabrics you like, brands, specific types of items, etc.

3. Closet Tour. After you’ve brainstormed and written everything down, take a tour through your closet. Do you have multiples of certain pieces? Chances are you really like wearing that! I have a lot of high waist pants/skirts and crop tops. I like high waist pants, skirts and crop tops. I also have a lot of leather jackets. I like leather jackets because I can use them as statement pieces when wearing a neutral outfit. We tend to buy things we like, lol.

So there three tips to help you find your sense of style! My style is edgy chic. I love the off-duty model look, but there are days where I love a more elegant, put together look. Monochroming is also one of my favorites as you can tell by today’s post. 🙂

Dear Jen. We are meant to be friends, lol. We think alike. Before I opened my blog I thought about who inspires me in the menswear world and then built upon that. With every outfit I wear I always brainstorm it and think of a bigger picture. Especially when I’m shooting for my blog I’m always brainstorming what I want to say for the post and if the outfit will go with my thoughts. As always you have the best tips and I love your outfit! This color looks great on you, as do all colors my friend. I’ll be waiting for your next post.
    Love, Dom

  2. Great advice. It’s easy to get caught up in so many trends but not smart if it not true to your own style. Sounds like we have a similar style.
You look fabulous in this color, love the look on you !
