Sailing to the Moon

I didn’t intend to look like Sailor Moon today, but it just dawned on me as I was preparing to write this post. I think it’s the color of the boots and outfit. We can draw inspiration from anything right? I actually took Japanese in high school for 3 years. It was easy for me since a lot of Korean words are very similar to Japanese and the Kanji characters are shared by the Chinese, Korean and Japanese. My grandma also speaks fluent Japanese so that was also a plus when it came to homework.

Since it’s still winter (even though I’m wearing shorts), I wanted to play with some of my favorite winter colors: navy blue and burgundy. I really love these colors separately and together. I pulled out a turtleneck and layered it with a sleeveless pinstriped vest, navy blue shorts and my new velvet OTK boots! These boots are simply stunning and can be spotted a mile away. I just don’t like that they keep falling down (unlike the Stuart Weitzman boots). They have a rubber lining at the top of the seam, but that doesn’t really help. Let’s just say, you get what you pay for!

Turtleneck: H&M
Vest: ASOS, similar here
Shorts: Talula, similar here
Boots: Zara, similar here and here

  1. Girl, these boots are everything!!! And you are rocking them! Love that striped vest too. The entire look is perfection. Too bad they keep rolling down, but with as good as they look, I’d wear them anyway. Put some tape in there or something. 😂

I have been dying to see this post. I’ve been on my social media break and I loved seeing this outfit on instagram before I left for a bit. You really killed this Sailor Moon look Jen. If they were to cast a live action film, you should totally star in it. Also, I love the fact that you speak all these different languages. That’s just an extra plus for you in life. Another amazing post Jen!
    Hope you are doing great.
    Much love,

I know, I have a problems like yours with a pair of high boots that always fall down when I walk. I love them but I don’t think I will wear them anymore. You have what you paid for is so true! In fact I have another pair all made in Italy with Italian ecoleathers with a high price that NEVER fall down 😆
    So beautiful look ❤

  4. Love your Sailor Moon reference! A friend of mine introduced me to the culture of anime this year and she is by far my favorite! I love the boots and I’ve had that problem with my own OTKs and yes, perhaps I should invest in a better quality. However, you could not look any more gorgeous and chic ! Great look and love to read and see all you do !

that OTK velvet shoes are so like Stuart Weitzman, you always look so happy and It’s so nice.

  6. So cute the way you styled the OTK boots with the shorts ! Love the Burgundy color for a unique look rather than the traditional brown or black. And I have a few pairs that fall down too, but I am like you, sometimes you just have to roll with it if looks that good 🙂
    xx, gracie

    1. That’s really true Gracie! I love the burgundy because it’s so different from the black, grays and browns that everyone wears. Thank you so much for reading. 🙂
